Wash vehicle out of direct sunlight with soap and cool water.

^

Move the vehicle into an artificially lit indoor area or outdoor shaded area and dry with a clean towel.

^

Inspect the horizontal areas for spots that fit the previous description and classify the vehicle using following criteria:

CLASS 1 No paint damage visible. These vehicles may be released for sale.

CLASS 2 Two spots or less are found in roughly a 12" x 12" area of a panel and the spots are smaller than 1/8" in diameter.

CLASS 3 More than two spots are found in roughly a 12" x 12" area of a panel and/or the spots are greater than 1/8" in diameter.

CLASS 4 Vehicles that cannot be satisfactorily repaired using methods recommended for Class 3 vehicles will require refinishing and should
then be classified as Class 4.

REQUIRED MATERIALS

The following materials are necessary to perform the procedures correctly:

#1500 grit or finer wet-dry paper

Stikit Soft Hand Pad (3M part no. 051144-05530) or equivalent.

^

Finesse-It compound (3M part no. 051131-05923) or 3M Prep-Team Liquid Polish (051144-05939) or equivalent.

^

Fine grit machine rubbing compound (DuPont 606s or equivalent.)

^

Buffing pad (3M part no. 051144-05700) or equivalent.

^

Electric or air powered buffer

^

Clean rags

************************************************** CLASS 2 REPAIR PROCEDURE

Move vehicle out of direct sunlight.

Vehicle surface should be cool and free of dirt/

grease. Wash with soap and water if necessary.

Mount the 3M Super Buff pad (P/N 051144-05700)
on the buffer wheel.

Apply the Finesse-It or 3M Prep Team Liquid Polish
sparingly to about a two square foot section of the affected panel and wipe the buffer pad once across the area.

Start the buffer (wheel speed should be 1500 to 
2500 rpm) and polish the area until the haze of the 
compound film is almost gone. 

(WARNING! AVOID EXCESSIVE PRESSURE ON THE BUFFER)

Repeat the previous application and polish steps
until all of the affected areas are polished.

Apply and buff a non-silicone glaze to the polished
areas if necessary to obtain a high gloss appearance.

CLASS 3 REPAIR PROCEDURE

1 Using the #1500 grit wet-dry paper on the Stikit soft Hand Pad, lightly sand the affected areas. Be sure to frequently dip the pad/paper in water to
prevent clogging the paper. Also wipe down the sanded area every few passes to determine if the spots have been removed.

2 Proceed as above to the remaining affected areas of the vehicle.

After all of the affected areas have been sanded,
