Wheel Speed Sensor: Description and Operation
Front Speed Sensor
The front speed sensor is used to detect wheel speed at both left and right front wheels.
Rear Speed Sensor
The rear speed sensor is used to detect wheel speed at both left and right rear wheels.
Stop Light Switch
The stop light switch is used to detect the brake signal and then , transmits the brake signal to the computer.
Deceleration Sensor, Celica W/All Wheel Drive
The deceleration sensor is used to detect the deceleration speed of the vehicle and transmits a signal accordingly to the computer.
Anti-Lock Warning Light
The anti-lock warning light is used (lights up) to alert the driver when trouble has occurred in the anti-lock brake system.
Actuator
The actuator controls brake fluid pressure to each disc brake cylinder (caliper) through signals transmitted from the computer.
Anti-Lock Brake System Computer
By receiving wheel speed signals sent from each sensor, the anti-lock brake system computer, calculates acceleration, deceleration and slip values and
then transmits a corresponding signal or signals to the actuator to control brake fluid pressure.
