Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Toyota Powertrain Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 60 months or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the
vehicle's in-service date.

Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's complaint.
Repair Procedure
A.
Slight coolant seepage or residue:
1.
Replace original head gasket with:
a.
Composite type, if engine number is lower than 5985000.
b.
Metal type, if engine number is 5985000 or higher.
B.
Coolant visibly leaking down block.
1.
Replace cylinder head with parts produced after 8/4/97.
NOTE:
Identify replacement service parts by date code stamped on front cylinder head, exhaust side (see illustration).
2.
Replace original head gasket with:
a.
Composite type if engine number is lower than 5985000.
b.
Metal type, if engine number is 5985000 or higher.
