CELICA FUEL LID LOCK CONTROL CABLE NOISE

To reduce rattling noises heard from the left hand quarter panel area caused by the free play of the fuel lid lock control cable, urethane foam and vinyl
tape have been added to the cable as shown in Fig. 1. A Field Fix has also been developed and is described in this TSB.

FIELD FIX METHOD:

Removing the following interior components will provide easier cable access. (Refer to the Body section of the repair manual for proper removal
procedures if needed).

^ REAR SEAT CUSHION AND SEAT BACK

^ REAR DECK TRIM COVER
^ LH DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL
^ LH QUARTER TRIM PANEL

(a)

Disconnect the fuel lid lock control cable from the fuel lid lock.

(b) Carefully pull the cable through the wheelwell. This will provide easier access when installing urethane foam (e.g. 3M Scotchfoam or equivalent)

onto the cable.
