the following formula. Shims are available in 27 sizes in increments of .0020 inch ranging from .0787 inch to .1299 inch.
Intake; N = T + (A - .008 inch).
Exhaust; N = T + (A -.010 inch).
N = Thickness of replacement shim.
T = Thickness of original shim.
A = Valve clearance measured.

9.

Using tool No. 09284-70011, depress valve lifter and install adjusting shim.

10.

Repeat procedure on remaining out of specification valve clearances.

11.

Recheck valve clearances, then reinstall cylinder head covers.
