d. Press in the inboard dust cover until distance between the tip of center driveshaft to dust cover is as shown in Fig. 22.
2.
Except RH driveshaft on models with 5S-FE engine, using a suitable press, press in the dust cover onto joint tulip.
3.
On all models, wrap vinyl tape around the spline of driveshaft, then temporarily install outboard joint boot and new boot clamps.
4.
On RH driveshaft on models with 4A-FE engine, temporarily install damper and new damper clamp.
5.
On all models, temporarily install inboard joint boot and new boot clamps for inboard joint to driveshaft.
6.
Install tripod joint as follows.
a. Install new snap ring on shaft, then place beveled side of tripod joint axial spline toward the outboard joint and align matchmarks previously
made.
b. Tap tripod joint into driveshaft using suitable tools. Install new snap ring.
7.
Pack boot with grease, then install boot to outboard joint.
8.
Pack inboard joint tulip or center driveshaft to boot with suitable grease.
9.
Align matchmarks previously made, then install inboard joint tulip or center driveshaft, then boot to driveshaft.
10.
Assemble boot clamps and damper clamp, ensuring the boot is on shaft groove and is not stretched or contracted.

Check driveshaft assembled length, Fig. 23. Shaft length on models with 4A-FE should be 21.24 inches on LH side and 33.69 on RH side. Shaft
length on models with 5S-FE engine should be 21.99 on LH side and 33.27 on RH side. Above lengths may be + or - .197 of an inch.
