Air Injection Control Valve: Testing and Inspection
1.
Disconnect air hose from check valve and air bypass hose from air cleaner.
2.
Disconnect wiring connector and ensure air flows from air bypass hose at idle.
3.
Connect wiring connector.
4.
Disconnect and ground connector of thermo switch No. 1.
5.
Ensure that compressed air flows from air hose to check valve at idle.
6.
Connect thermo switch No. 1 connector.
7.
Disconnect and ground connector of thermo switch No. 2.
8.
Ensure compressed air flows from air bypass hose.
9.
Connect thermo switch No. 2 connector.
10.
Disconnect and ground connector of thermo switch No. 1.
11.
Connect suitable tester to air hose to check valve.
12.
Close off orifice of tester.
13.
Gradually increase engine speed and ensure relief valve opening pressure is 4.3 to 5.7 psi.
14.
Disconnect tester and connect air hoses and connector to proper locations.
