Celica Coupe L4-107.5 1762cc 1.8L DOHC (7A-FE) (1995)
Fuel Gauge: Testing and Inspection
1. Disconnect connector from sender gauge.
2. Turn ignition switch to On position, then check receiver gauge needle indicates Empty.
3. Connect terminals 2 and 3 on wire harness side connector through a 3.4W test bulb, Fig. 8.
Fig. 8 Fuel Receiver Gauge Inspection.
4. Turn ignition switch On, then ensure bulb lights and receiver gauge needle moves toward full side.
5. Measure resistance between terminals A, B and C, Fig. 9.
Fig. 9 Fuel Gauge Terminal Locations.
6. On 7A-FE and 5S-FE engines, resistance should be as follows:
a. A-B: about 154.3 ohms.
b. A-C: about 126.2 ohms.
c. B-C: about 280.5 ohms.
7. On all models, if resistance is not as specified, replace fuel receiver gauge.
8. Connect a series of three 1.5 volt dry cell batteries, then connect the positive lead from the dry cell batteries to terminal 2 through a 3.4W test bulb
and the negative lead to terminal 1, Fig. 10.
