8. Install a new adjusting shim.

Place a new adjusting shim on the valve lifter.

Using SST (A), press down the valve lifter and remove SST (B).
SST 09248-50020 (09248-05011, 09248-05021)

Recheck the valve clearance.

9. Reinstall cylinder head cover

a. Remove any old packing Formed in Place Gasket (FIPG) material.
b. Apply seal packing to the cylinder head as shown in the illustration.

Seal packing: Part No. 08826-00080 or equivalent

c. Install the gasket to the head cover and install the head cover with the four grommets and nuts. Uniformly tighten the nuts in several passes.

Torque: 23 Nm (17 ft lb)

NOTE: Install the grommets so that their markings are as shown in the illustration.

d. Tighten the two wire harness clamp ( No. 2 timing belt cover) mounting bolts and connect the PCV hoses.

10. Reconnect high-tension cords to spark plugs.
