Install plate washer, bearing locknut, bearing locknut cap and a new cotter pin. Tighten attaching nut to specification.
14.
Tighten strut rod to axle carrier mount bolts and suspension arm to axle carrier attaching bolts to specifications.
Rear Axle Hub & Carrier

Remove cotter pin, bearing locknut cap and bearing locknut, Fig. 13.
2.
Disconnect parking brake cable, then remove brake caliper.
3.
Remove rotor disc. Before removing rotor, place alignment marks on the axle hub and rotor disc.
4.
Check axial bearing play. Bearing play should be .0020 inch or less.
5.
Check axle shaft flange runout. Maximum flange runout should be .0028 inch or less.
6.
Remove parking brake assembly and parking brake cable.
7.
Remove axle carrier with axle hub as follows:
a. Remove the two axle carrier attaching nuts and the two bolts with the camber adjusting cam assembly.
b. Disconnect strut rod from the axle carrier.
c. Disconnect the No. 1 suspension arm from the axle carrier assembly.
