W/2 WHEEL DRIVE
1.
Remove brake drum or rotor and check bearing axial play. Play should not exceed .002 inch.
2.
On models equipped with anti-lock brakes, remove speed sensor.
3.
On models equipped with drum brakes, disconnect brake line from wheel cylinder, Figs. 2 and 3.
4.
on all models, remove 4 bolts holding axle hub to axle carrier and remove axle hub and rear brake assembly.
5.
Remove O-ring.
6.
Remove strut rod from axle carrier, then remove No. 1 and 2 suspension arms, then remove axle carrier to shock absorber attaching bolts.
7.
Place hub in suitable vise. Using hammer and chisel, loosen stake part of nut and remove nut.
8.
Using axle shaft remover tool No. 09550-20017 or equivalent, push axle shaft off axle hub.
9.
Remove oil sel, then inside portion of bearing inner race.
10.
Using puller tool No. 09950-10010 or equivalent, pull outside portion of bearing inner race from axle shaft.
11.
To replace wheel bearing, place old inner race (outside) on bearing, then using bearing remover tools Nos. 09552-10010 and 09555-10010 or
equivalent, press out bearing.
12.
Apply MP grease around bearing outer race and replacer pipe tool No. 09550-10012 or equivalent, press new bearing into axle hub.
13.
Using countershaft bearing replacer tool No. 09310-35010, or equivalent, drive new oil seal into axle hub.
14.
Apply MP grease to oil seal lip.
15.
Place inside portion of bearing inner race on bearing.
16.
Using installer tool Nos. 09636-20010 and 09228-22020, press inner race with axle hub onto axle shaft.
17.
Tighten axle hub nut to specification.
18.
Place new O-ring on axle carrier.
19.
Install axle hub and rear brake assembly with four bolts. Tighten bolts to specifications.
