(a)
Check only the valves indicated.

Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the valve lifter and camshaft.

Record the out-of-specification valve clearance measurements. They will be used later to determine the required replacement adjusting
shim.
Valve clearance (Cold):
Intake: 0.19 - 0.29 mm (0.007 - 0.011 inch)
Exhaust: 0.28 - 0.38 mm (0.011 - 0.015 inch)
(b) Turn the crankshaft one revolution (360°) and align the mark as above.
(c)
Check only the valves indicated as shown. Measure the valve clearance. (See procedure in step (a))
4. Adjust valve clearance.
5. Reinstall cylinder head cover.
(a)
Install the cylinder head cover.
(b) Install the oil filler cap.
(c)
Install the engine wire protector to the 2 mounting bolts of the No.2 timing belt cover in the sequence shown.
(d) Connect these cables and hoses:
(1) Accelerator cable to throttle body.
(2) Accelerator cable to clamp on intake manifold.
(3) A/T throttle control cable to throttle body.
(4) PCV hose to air cleaner hose.
(5) PCV hose to intake manifold.
