Celica GT Liftback L4-2164cc 2.2L DOHC MFI (1998)
Torque: 127 Nm (94 ft. lbs.).
2. Install the front sub-frame with the power steering gear assembly.
3. Connect the two engine mountings.
a. Front side:
Torque the bolt and nut.
Torque: 88 Nm (64 ft. lbs.)
b. Rear side:
Torque the bolt.
Torque: 88 Nm (64 ft. lbs.)
4. Connect the right and left hand lower suspension arms.
5. Connect pressure feed and return tubes.
Using the 09631 - 22020 SST, connect the pressure feed and return tubes.
Torque: 36 Nm (26 ft. lbs.).
HINT: Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (1 1.81 inch). This torque value is effective in case that SST is parallel to a torque
wrench.
6. Connect the tube clamp bracket.
Tighten the two bolts.
Torque: 13 Nm (9 ft. lbs.).
7. Connect the intermediate No.2 shaft.
8. Install the front exhaust pipe.
a. Install the two bolts and two new nuts with a new gasket, tightening the nuts.
Torque: 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.).
b. Install the two new nuts with a new gasket.
Torque: 62 Nm (46 ft. lbs.).
c. Tighten the two bolts.
Torque: 19 Nm (14 ft. lbs.).
9. Connect the right and left hand tie rod ends.
10. Place front wheels facing straight ahead.
HINT: Do it with the vehicle jacked up.
11. For vehicles with an air bag, install the center spiral cable.
12. If the vehicle has an air bag, install the steering wheel by doing the following.
a. Align the matchmarks on the wheel and steering column main shaft.
b. Temporarily tighten the wheel set nut.
c. Connect the connector.
13. Bleed the power steering system.
14. Check the steering wheel center point.
15. If the vehicle came with an air bag, tighten the steering wheel set nut.
Torque: 34 Nm (25 ft. lbs.)
16. Install the steering wheel pad.
17. Check the front wheel alignment.
18. Install the right and left hand engine under covers.
Tighten the 18 bolts.
