Wheel Cylinder: Service and Repair

Rear Drum Brake Components

REMOVAL

1. Remove rear wheel.
2. Remove brake Drum, brake shoes and hardware.
3. Remove Wheel Cylinder.

Disconnect Brake Line

4. Using SST 09023-00100, disconnect the brake line. Use a container to catch the brake fluid.

-

Torque: 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.)

5. Remove the 2 bolts and the Wheel Cylinder.

-

Torque: 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.)

6. Overhaul if necessary.

Overhaul
1. Remove the following parts from Wheel Cylinder:

-

2 boots.

-

2 pistons.

-

2 piston cups.

-

Spring.

2. Assemble in reverse order.

INSTALLATION

Installation is in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
