4. Using calipers, measure the free length of the spring. The minimum free length is 36.0 mm (1.42 inch), If it is not within the specification, replace
the spring.
5. If necessary, replace the oil seal by doing the following.
a. Using a screwdriver, pry out the oil seal.
HINT: taking care to tape the screwdriver tip before use.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the front housing.
b. Coat the new oil seal lip with power steering fluid.
c. Using the 09950 - 60010 (09951 - 00230), 09950-7001 0 (09951 -071 00) SST, press in the oil seal.
NOTE: Make sure you install the oil seal facing the correct direction.
