Celica GT Ltd Ed Convertible L4-2164cc 2.2L DOHC MFI (1997)
a. Set the 09612 - 30012 SST, as shown in the illustration.
b. Turn A clockwise and engage the tips of C on the oil seal. Apply the tips of C to the cutouts in the rack housing.
c. Using a (8 mm) spanner , keep A fixed while turning nut B clockwise, and remove the oil seal from the rack housing, being careful not to
damage the rack housing.
d. Coat a new oil seal lip with power steering fluid.
e. Using the 09950 - 60010 (09951 - 00290, 09951 - 00430, 09952 -06010), 09950 - 70010 (09951 - 07100) SST, press in the oil seal, making
sure you install the oil seal facing the correct direction.
4. Inspect the bearing by checking the bearing rotation condition and check for abnormal noise, if the bearing is worn or damaged, replace the control
valve assembly.
5. If necessary, replace the teflon ring and O-ring, doing the following.
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the teflon ring and O- ring from the steering rack, being careful not to damage the groove for the teflon ring.
b. Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid, and install it.
