Wheel Bearing: Testing and Inspection
Front
1. Check the bearing backlash by following these steps.
a. Remove the two caliper set bolts.
Installation Hint: Torque to 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.).
b. Support the brake caliper securely.
c. Remove the disc.
d. Place a dial indicator near the center of the axle hub and check the backlash in the bearing shaft direction. If the backlash exceeds the
maximum, replace the bearing.
Maximum: 0.08 mm (0.0031 inch).
