Wheel Cylinder: Service and Repair
Disassembly and Assembly

Refer to Fig. 5 for disassembled view of a typical wheel cylinder.

1.

Remove boots, pistons, piston cups and spring from wheel cylinder.

2.

Clean all parts using suitable brake cleaner. Inspect cylinder bore for rust, scoring or wear. If necessary, replace cylinder.

3.

Apply suitable grease to all rubber parts and mating surfaces.

4.

Install piston cups to pistons. Then install spring and pistons into wheel cylinder. Ensure flanges of cups are pointed upward. Install boots.
