Ball Joint: Testing and Inspection

1.

Raise front of vehicle and place a 7-8 inch block under one tire.

2.

Lower vehicle until the front springs are about half loaded. Place stands under vehicle.

3.

Chock front wheels after ensuring they are in straight forward position.

4.

Using suitable lever, move lower control arm up and down to check that ball joint does not have any play. If not, replace the ball joint.

5.

Repeat procedure for opposite ball joint.
