Throttle Body: Service and Repair

REMOVAL:

1. Drain engine coolant from radiator and disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect accelerator cable from throttle linkage.
3. Remove Intercooler.
4. Remove four bolts and remove intake air connector.

5. Remove four bolts, the air connector stay and two spacers.

6. Disconnect TPS and Idle Speed Control (ISC) Valve connectors.
7. Remove the accelerator bracket and disconnect the following hoses:

a. PCV hose from the cylinder head cover
b. Vacuum hose from the throttle body P port to the vacuum pipe
c. Vacuum hose from the throttle body E port from the EGR VSV
d. Vacuum hose from the throttle opener

8. Remove four bolts, throttle body, gasket, two water by-pass hoses from No.1 air tube and the air hose from No.1 air tube.

Removing Throttle Body

9. If necessary, remove ISC Valve from bottom of throttle body.

INSTALLATION:

1. If the ISC valve was removed, use a new gasket and reinstall the ISC valve at this time.
2. Connect the two water by-pass hoses to No.1 air tube and the air hose to No.1 air tube.
3. Place a new gasket on the throttle body, facing the protusion upward.
4. Install the throttle body with the four mount bolts  Torque the mount bolts to 14 ft.lbs (19 Nm).
