Throttle Valve Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair

Removal

1.

Disconnect throttle cable from engine.

2.

Drain transaxle fluid.

3.

Remove engine undercover.

4.

Remove neutral start switch.

5.

Remove oil pan and gasket.

6.

Disconnect throttle cable from cam.

7.

Remove throttle cable attaching plate, then remove.

Installation

1.

Install throttle cable, then plate.

2.

Connect throttle cable to cam.

3.

Install oil pan and drain plug.

4.

Install and adjust neutral start switch.

5.

Install engine undercover.

Position cable stop for reference as follows:
a. Bend cable to a radius of approximately 7.87 inches as shown, Fig. 9. Cable stop is not staked in place on replacement cable.
b. Lightly pull inner cable from housing until a slight resistance is felt, then hold in position.
c. Stake stopper onto inner cable so that .031-.059 inch clearance exists between stop and cable housing.
d. Connect and adjust throttle cable as described previously.

7.

Ensure correct transaxle fluid level, then road test vehicle.
