not to damage the boot, oil seal and deflector.
b. Using a brass bar and hammer, tap in hexagon bolt head of driveshaft until shaft contacts pinion shaft. Whether or not driveshaft is making
contact with pinion shaft can be determined by the sound or feeling when driving in the driveshaft.
c. Install transmission case protector with attaching bolts Torque bolts to 13 ft. lbs.
d. Install outboard joint side of the driveshaft to axle hub. Ensure not to damage oil seal and boot.
e. Using suitable tool, tighten six hexagon bolts while depressing brake pedal. Torque bolts to 48 ft. lbs.

Connect steering knuckle to lower arm. Install and torque attaching nuts to 94 ft. lbs.

Connect tie rod end to steering knuckle. Install and torque attaching nut to 36 ft. lbs. Install a new cotter pin. If cotter pin hole does not line up
correctly, correct by tightening nut by smallest amount possible.
4.
Install bearing locknut, locknut cap and new cotter pin. Torque locknut while depressing brake pedal to 137 ft. lbs. See TSB DL001-98, 3-6-98.
5.
Install front wheels, fill transaxle with gear oil and check front wheel alignment.
