1.
Raise and support vehicle.
2.
Remove cotter pin, locknut cap, then loosen bearing locknut while depressing brake pedal, Figs. 18 and 19.
3.
Drain transaxle fluid, then remove engine undercover.
4.
Remove brake caliper and suspend, then remove rotor disc.
5.
Remove cotter pin and nut from steering knuckle, then using ball joint puller tool No. 09628-62011 or equivalent disconnect tie rod end from
steering knuckle.
6.
Disconnect lower arm from steering knuckle, then using universal puller tool No. 09950-20017 or equivalent, disconnect the driveshaft from
steering knuckle.
7.
Using a hammer and hub nut wrench or equivalent remove the LH driveshaft.
8.
On models with 5S-FE engines, remove the two center bearing bracket bolts, then pull out the RH driveshaft along with center bearing case and
center driveshaft.
9.
On models with 4A-FE engine, using a hammer and brass bar, tap out the RH driveshaft.
10.
On all models, reverse procedure to install. Torque lower arm to steering knuckle to 94 ft. lbs. Torque tie rod end to steering knuckle to 36 ft.
lbs. Torque bearing locknut to 137 ft. lbs. while depressing brake pedal.
