Oil Pump: Service and Repair
Oil Pump Replace
1982-86 Corolla Front Wheel Drive Models
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain engine oil.
2.
Remove engine under cover, then the hood.
3.
Remove engine mount center member from body.
4.
Remove oil pan attaching bolts, then the oil pan using a suitable tool. Use caution not to damage oil pan flange.
5.
Remove oil strainer attaching bolts, then the oil strainer and gaskets.
6.
Attach suitable engine hoist to engine lift bracket, then lift engine.
7.
Loosen water pump pulley bolts, then the alternator and power steering pump drive belts.
8.
Remove water pump pulley, then the A/C compressor drive belt and idler pulley, if equipped.
9.
Remove crankshaft pulley attaching bolts, then the crankshaft pulley using a suitable tool.
10.
Remove timing belt covers and gaskets, then the timing belt. Refer to ``Timing Belt, Replace'' for procedure.
11.
Remove crankshaft timing pulley.
12.
Remove oil level gauge guide and gauge.
13.
Remove oil pump attaching bolts, then the oil pump assembly.
14.
Reverse procedure to install.
