Diagnosis Procedure

Use this procedure to determine if the rubber windshield molding is lifting away from the body at highway speeds.

1.

Apply masking tape over the rubber windshield molding where the molding meets the painted portion of both A-pillars and the roof (bridge over
the edge of the molding where it lays against the A-pillars and the roof). Apply masking tape around the perimeter of the windshield molding. (See
Figure 1.)

Do NOT add tape between the rubber molding and the windshield glass.

Apply masking tape between molding and body ONLY.

2.

Once masking tape is in place test drive the vehicle at highway speeds (above 50 mph [80.5 km/h]) first traveling in one direction on the highway
and then in the opposite direction (for example: first travel north on the highway reverse direction and travel south on the highway).

If adding tape between the molding and the body eliminates the noise go to the Repair Procedure in this TSB.

If noise is still present tape off additional components until the location of the noise is identified.

Repair Procedure

1.

Once the "reed vibration" noise has been eliminated by applying masking tape to the outer portion of the windshield molding and test driving the
vehicle, remove the masking tape.
