4.

Using the SST (P/N 500625), pinch the hose connecting the canister refueling valve and the pump module assembly. (Refer to the illustration.)

5.

Using the Diagnostic Tester, repeat the Automatic EVAP System Check.

If NO pending DTCs are set, replace the charcoal canister assembly.

If pending DTC P0456 still sets, another EVAP system fault is present proceed to step 6.

6.

To further diagnose the EVAP system when another fault is suspected, refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2005 model year Corolla
or Matrix Repair Manual:

Repair Procedure

1.

Replace the charcoal canister assembly.

2.

Perform the Automatic EVAP System Check and verify that no pending DTCs set.
