Variable Valve Timing Actuator: Testing and Inspection
On-Vehicle Inspection

2AZ-FE ENGINE CONTROL: CAMSHAFT OIL CONTROL VALVE: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Start the engine.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Inspect the oil control valve (for intake camshaft).

(1) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT System (Bank 1).

(2) Check the engine speed when the oil control valve is operated using the Techstream with the engine coolant temperature at 50°C (122°F)

or less.

When performing the active test, the air conditioning should be on.

Engine coolant temperature when the engine is started should be 30°C (86°F) or less.
