Initialization cannot be completed by only removing the cable from the battery.

(a) Perform Reset Memory (AT initialization) when replacing the ECM    See: Powertrain Management/Transmission Control Systems/Testing

and Inspection/Programming and Relearning. (for Automatic Transaxle)

(b) Perform Registration (VIN registration) when replacing the ECM    See: Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Testing and

Inspection/Programming and Relearning.
