Suspension Strut / Shock Absorber: Service and Repair
Front
Removal and Installation
1. Remove front wheel.
[torque: 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.)].
2. Disconnect ABS wire harness clamp (ABS equipped).
3. Disconnect brake hose from shock absorber by removing the bolt.
[torque: 29 Nm (22 ft. lbs.)].
4. Remove shock absorber with coil spring.
a. Loosen the 2 nuts on the lower side of the shock absorber.
[torque: 275 Nm (203 ft. lbs.)].
Removal Note: Do not remove the 2 nuts and bolts.
b. Remove the 3 nuts on the upper side of the shock absorber.
[torque: 39 Nm (29 ft. lbs.)].
c. Remove the 2 nuts and bolts on the lower side of the shock absorber.
Installation Note: Coat the nut's threads with engine oil.
d. Remove the shock absorber with the coil spring.
5. Install in reverse order of removal, noting the torque specifications in brackets [ ].
6. After installation, check front wheel alignment. See: Alignment
Disassembly
1. Remove coil spring.
a. Install 2 nuts and a bolt to the bracket at the lower part of the shock absorber and secure it in a vise.
b. Using SST 09727 - 30021, compress the coil spring.
