CONDITION:
The torque converter lock-up clutch does not release when slowing to a stop in any range (except Park and Neutral).
POSSIBLE CAUSE:
Foreign material can cause the lock-up relay valve to stick in the relay valve sleeve. This may be the result of an abrasive contact between the plastic
check ball #3, P/N: 35428-30020, and the metal compression spring P/N: 90504-04005.
CORRECTION:
DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR PROCEDURES

Diagnosis procedures to check for lock-up clutch not releasing.

Check automatic transmission fluid for correct level.

Disconnect the ECT ECU computer.

With the transmission in "P" range, start the engine.

With the brake pedal pressed, shift the transmission from "P" to "D" range.
-
If the lock-up clutch does not release, repairs to the valve body may be necessary.

Reconnect the ECT ECU computer.

REPAIR PROCEDURES:

Repairs can be made without removing the transmission.

Drain transmission fluid into clean container.
