Headlamp Switch: Service and Repair
NOTE: Some models are equipped with an audio coded anti-theft system that will disable the radio when the battery cable is disconnected. The system
can be identified by the words ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM on the cassette tape lid. Obtain three digit customer code for input. Reset system after
service as follows:
1.
Obtain three digit audio anti-theft code.
2.
Depress 1 (PROG) while depressing righthand side of TUNE SEEK button, - - - will appear in tape operation display.
3.
To enter first digit, depress 1 (PROG) button repeatedly until the number of times depressed equals the first digit beginning with zero (depress the
1 button six times if the first digit is five).
4.
To enter second digit, depress 2 (APS) button repeatedly until the number of times depressed equals the second digit beginning with zero.
5.
To enter third digit, depress 3 (RPT) button repeatedly until the number of times depressed equals the third digit beginning with zero.
6.
If - - - is displayed during code input, repeat procedure.
7.
When code appears in display, depress and hold SCAN button until SEC appears.
8.
When SEC disappears audio system should be operative.
9.
If Err is displayed, repeat procedure. Attempting to input code more than nine times may permanently disable audio system.
Removal & Installation
1.
On models with audio coded anti-theft system, obtain three digit anti-theft code.
2.
On all models, disconnect battery ground cable.
3.
Remove steering wheel as outlined under Steering Wheel, Service and Repair.
4.
Remove steering column upper and lower covers.
5.
Remove combination switch with spiral cable assembly.
6.
Reverse procedure to install. Reset audio anti-theft system, if equipped, as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
