Valve Guide: Service and Repair

1. Gradually heat the cylinder head to 80-100°C (176-212°F).
2. Using Valve Guide Bushing Remover and Replacer Set, Handle Set and a hammer, tap out the guide bushing.
3. Using a caliper gauge, measure the bushing bore diameter of the cylinder head. Standard valve guide bore (Cold): 11.000-11.027 mm
(0.4331-0.4341 inch)
4. Select a new guide bushing (STD size or O/S 0.05). If the bushing bore diameter of the cylinder head is greater than 11.027 mm (0.4341 inch),
machine the bushing bore to the following dimension: Rebored cylinder head bushing bore dimension: 11.050-11.077 mm (0.4350-0.4361 inch).
If the bushing bore diameter of the cylinder head is greater than 11.077 mm (0.4361 inch), replace the cylinder head.
5. Gradually heat the cylinder head to 80-100°C (176-212°F).
