Corolla Sedan 4-Door L4-1587cc 1.6L DOHC MFI (1997)
CAUTION: Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage the SST.
c. Remove the cap from the suspension support.
d. Using SST 09729 - 22031 to hold the spring seat, remove the nut.
e. Remove the these parts from the shock absorber:

Suspension support
-
Dust seal
-
Spring seat
-
Upper insulator and coil spring
-
Spring bumper and lower insulator
2. Inspect shock absorber.

Compress and extend the shock absorber rod.

Check that there is no abnormal resistance or unusual operation sounds.
CAUTION: When discarding the shock absorber, use the following procedure.
3. Front shock absorber disposal.
a. Fully extend shock absorber rod.
b. Using a drill, make a hole in the cylinder as shown to remove the gas inside.
WARNING: The gas coming out is harmless, but be careful of chips which may fly up when drilling.
