Wheel Bearing: Service and Repair
Rear
REAR AXLE/WHEEL HUB AND CARRIER REPLACEMENT
1. Remove rear wheel.
[torque: 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.)].
2. Remove brake drum.
3. Check bearing backlash and axle hub deviation.
4. Remove ABS speed sensor bolt and speed sensor (ABS equipped).
[torque: 8.0 Nm (71 inch lbs.)].
5. Remove rear axle hub.
a. Remove the 4 bolts and rear axle hub.
[torque: 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.)].
b. Remove the O-ring.
Installation Note: Coat the O-ring with MP grease.
6. Disconnect brake line, refer to Brakes and Traction Control.
7. Remove backing plate from rear axle carrier. Support the backing plate securely.
8. Remove rear axle carrier.
