CAMSHAFTS REMOVAL

Timing Marks

1. Turn the crankshaft pulley and align its groove with timing mark 0 of the no.1 timing belt cover as shown.

Caution: Never turn the engine counterclockwise, always turn clockwise.

2. Make sure that the camshaft timing pulley hole lines up with the mark on the No.1 camshaft cap (exhaust side). If not, repeat step 28.

3. Remove the plug from the No.1 timing belt cover, if belt is to be reused place matchmarks on it at this time as illustrated.

4. Loosen the idler pulley mount bolt and push the idler pulley towards the left as far as it will go and temporarily tighten it. Remove the timing belt

from the camshaft, if it is to be reused, hold the belt with a cloth and do not allow it to come into contact with oil, water, or dust.
