Secure Camshaft For Pulley Bolt

5. Secure the camshaft, remove the camshaft timing pulley bolt and timing pulley.

Caution: Do not allow the securing wrench to damage the cylinder head.

6. At this time, measure camshaft thrust clearance as shown.

Camshaft Thrust Clearance Measurement

Standard clearance:

Intake: 0.030 - 0.085mm (0.0012 - 0.0033 in.)
Exhaust: 0.035 - 0.090mm (0.0014 - 0.0035 in.)

Maximum clearance: 0.11mm (0.0043 in.)

7. If clearance is greater than maximum, replace the camshaft and/or cylinder head.

Caution: Since the thrust clearance of the camshaft is small, the camshaft must be held level while it is being removed. If it is removed without
being kept level, the portion of the cylinder head receiving the shaft thrust may crack or break necessitating replacement of the cylinder head.

8. Set the service bolt hole of the intake camshaft gear as shown.
