Fuel Pressure: Testing and Inspection
ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
1. CHECK FUEL PUMP OPERATION

Connect the TOYOTA hand-held tester to the DLC3.

Turn ignition switch ON and TOYOTA hand-held tester main switch ON.
NOTICE: Do not start the engine.

Select the active test mode on the TOYOTA hand-held tester.
Please refer to the TOYOTA hand-held tester operator's manual for further details.

If you have no TOYOTA hand-held tester. connect the positive (+) and negative (-) leads from the battery to the fuel pump connector.
(See step 2 in fuel pump inspection)

Check that there is pressure in the hose from the fuel filter.
HINT: At this time, you will hear fuel return noise.
If there is no pressure, check the following parts:

Fusible link
-
H-fuse (AM2 30A)
-
Fuses (EFI 15A. IGN 10A)
-
EFI main relay
-
Fuel pump
-
Wiring connections
-
Turn the ignition switch OFF.

Remove TOYOTA hand-held tester.
2. CHECK FUEL PRESSURE

Check that the battery voltages is above 12 volts.

Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.
