Idle Speed: Adjustments
Idle Speed W/O Computer Control
Equipment Hookup & Adjustment Procedures
1982: With engine at operating temperature, choke fully open, and air cleaner installed adjust to specified rpm.
Fast idle adjustment:
1290cc disconnect and plug vacuum hoses for HIC, EGR, and choke opener. With cooling fan off, set fast idle to specified rpm.
1452cc, 1770cc, disconnect and plug vacuum hoses to HIC, choke opener, and choke breaker diaphragm.
2188cc (maximum speed adjustment), with engine running, depress accelerator pedal to floor and adjust speed to 4900 rpm.
2366cc, plug HAI system hose connections. Disconnect and plug vacuum hoses to choke opener, distributor vacuum advance, and sub-advance.
Disconnect hose to EGR valve. U.S. engines with manual transmission, plug MC system hose connections.
4230cc, disconnect and plug distributor advance hoses and VCV system.
Fast Idle Adjustments
1452cc, 1587cc, disconnect and plug vacuum hoses for AS and HC systems. Remove air cleaner, disconnect vacuum hose from TVSV "M" port, and
plug. Set cam to specified step and adjust to specified rpm.
1456cc, 2366cc, disconnect and plug EGR vacuum hose(s) and adjust speed with cooling fan off.
THROTTLE POSITIONER: All years, disconnect and plug vacuum hose on end of unit. Allow step to move into position and adjust linkage screw.
