Pads, Replace

1.

Raise and support vehicle and remove tire and wheel assembly.

2.

Remove caliper slide pin on main pin side, Fig. 2. Do not remove caliper slide pin on the subpin side unless necessary.

3.

Lift up caliper and suspend out of way so that brake hose is not stretched.

4.

Remove pads, anti-squeal shims and the pad support plate.

5.

Reverse procedure to install, torquing caliper slide pin to 65 ft. lbs.

Caliper, Replace

1.

Raise and support vehicle and remove wheel and tire assembly.

2.

Disconnect brake hose from brake tube and caliper.

3.

Remove two caliper slide pins and the caliper.

4.

Remove pads, anti-squeal shim, pad support plate and pad wear indicator.

5.

Reverse procedure to install. Torque caliper slide pins to 65 ft. lbs., the brake hose to 17 ft. lbs., and the brake tube to 11 ft. lbs., then bleed brakes.

Disc, Replace

1.

Remove caliper as previously described.

2.

Remove caliper mounting from knuckle.

3.

Remove axle hub.

4.

Remove disc from axle hub.

5.

Reverse procedure to install, torquing disc attaching bolts to 47 ft. lbs.

Caliper Overhaul

1.

Remove caliper as previously described.

2.

Using compressed air, remove piston from caliper, keeping fingers clear of piston.

3.

Remove piston seal from caliper.

4.

Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to piston and caliper, caliper boot and piston seal, slide pin, inner surface of mounting main pin and boot
groove, outer surface of pin boot, sliding bushing and pin boot.

5.

Install piston seal in caliper.

6.

Install piston and caliper boot as follows:
