Expansion Valve: Testing and Inspection

1.

Start and operate engine and turn A/C system on, then check oil/freon level.

2.

Connect manifold gauge set to compressor.

3.

Operate engine at approximately 3,000 RPM, then note gauge indication.

4.

If expansion valve is clogged, the low pressure reading will drop to O psi and expansion valve should be replaced.

5.

If pressure reading is normal, expansion valve is satisfactory.
