Exhaust Pipe: Service and Repair
Removal & Installation and Disassembly & Reassembly
1. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE ASSY FRONT [17410 / 98-28]
2. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE ASSY CENTER [17420 / 98-28]
3. REMOVE TAIL PIPE ASSY [17430 / 98-28]
4. INSTALL TAIL PIPE ASSY [17430 / 98-28]
5. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSY CENTER [17420 / 98-28]
a. Using vernier calipers, measure the free length of the compression spring.
Free length: 42 mm (1.6535 inch)
If the free length is not as specified, replace the compression spring.
b. Install a new gasket and the center pipe to the tail pipe.
Torque: 48 Nm (490 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)
6. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSY FRONT [17410 / 98-28]
a. Using vernier calipers, measure the free length of the compression spring.
Free length: 43 mm (1.6929 inch)
If the free length is not as specified, replace the compression spring.
b. Using a new gasket, install front pipe to center pipe.
Torque: 56 Nm (571 kgf-cm, 42 ft. lbs.)
c. Install a new gasket and the front pipe to exhaust manifold convener.
Torque: 48 Nm (490 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)
7. CHECK EXHAUST GAS LEAK
