NOTE:
The "Fast Battery Chargers" listed above have been tested and approved by Toyota. These state-of-the-art "smart" chargers were designed to charge
batteries at an accelerated rate, without the possibility of damage. Using non-microprocessor-control led battery chargers for fast charging purposes
can damage the battery.
Before Delivery
Fully charge the 12-volt auxiliary battery:
1.
Before charging the auxiliary battery, turn off all lights and accessories and open the hood.
2.
Remove the positive terminal cover.
3.
Check the battery SOC. If the battery voltage is LESS THAN 12.6 V, then continue.
NOTE:
^
If measuring the voltage with the negative terminal connected, remove the key from the key cylinder, turn off all electrical systems, and
wait 60 seconds or more. This removes the surface charge.
^
If the engine has been running before measuring the voltage, wait 20 minutes or more after the engine stops. This removes the surface
charge.
4.
Charge the 12-volt auxiliary battery using a Toyota approved battery charger.
NOTE:
Since this auxiliary battery is NOT a Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) or an Absorbed Glass-Mat (AGM) battery like that in the Prius, it is
not necessary to charge it using a Toyota Hybrid System (THS) battery charger.
NOTE:
If the auxiliary battery was stored at 32°F (0°C) or below, charge the auxiliary battery in a room above 32°F (0°C).
