Removal
POWER STEERING: POWER STEERING ECU: REMOVAL
REMOVAL
1. PRECAUTION
CAUTION: Be sure to read "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding /
Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming/Service and Repair.
2. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working.
NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. See: Testing and
Inspection/Programming and Relearning/Repair Instruction - Initialization
4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and Repair/Removal
5. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and Repair/Removal
6. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Manual Air Conditioning System) See: Body and
Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and Repair/Removal
7. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Automatic Air Conditioning System) See: Body and
Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard / Instrument Panel/Service and Repair/Removal
8. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and Repair/Driver Side Knee
Airbag Assembly/Removal
9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY
(a) Separate the wire harness clamp from the instrument panel junction block assembly.
(b) Disconnect the connectors from the instrument panel junction block assembly.
(c) Remove the 3 nuts.
(d) Move the instrument panel junction block assembly and disengage the wire harness clamp.
(e) Disconnect the connectors from the back of the instrument panel junction block assembly.
(f) Remove the instrument panel junction block assembly.
10. REMOVE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY
