SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR: REMOVAL
REMOVAL

Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

The procedure listed below are for the LH side.
1. PRECAUTION
CAUTION: Be sure to read "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing See: Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming/Service and
Repair.
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait for at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.
NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. See: Testing and
Inspection/Programming and Relearning/Repair Instruction - Initialization
3. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL See: Body and Frame/Grille/Service and Repair/Removal
4. REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE See: Body and Frame/Grille/Service and Repair/Removal
5. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY (w/o Fog Light) See: Body and Frame/Bumper/Front Bumper/Service and Repair/Removal
6. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY (w/ Fog Light) See: Body and Frame/Bumper/Front Bumper/Service and Repair/Removal
7. REMOVE REAR FENDER SPLASH SHIELD SUB-ASSEMBLY See: Lighting and Horns/Headlamp/Service and Repair/Removal
8. REMOVE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY See: Lighting and Horns/Headlamp/Service and Repair/Removal
9. REMOVE FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR
(a) Disconnect the connector from the front airbag sensor.
NOTE: When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
(b) Remove the 2 bolts.
NOTE: Loosen the bolt while holding the front airbag sensor because the front airbag sensor claws and pin (stopper) are easily damaged.
(c) Disengage the 2 claws and pin, and remove the front airbag sensor from the body.
Installation

INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR
(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.
(b) Check that the battery negative (-) cable is disconnected.
CAUTION: Wait for least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.
