Thermal Vacuum Valve for EVAP: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION 

1. Drain engine coolant.
2. Remove thermal vacuum valve from cylinder head.

-

Disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses.

-

Remove the thermal vacuum valve.

3. Inspect thermal vacuum valve operation.

-

Cool the thermal vacuum valve to below 45°C (11 3°F) with cool water.

-

Check that air flows from pipe J to the air filter.

-

Heat the thermal vacuum valve to above 64°C (i47~F) with hot water.

-

Check that air flows from pipe J to pipe K. If operation is not as specified, replace the thermal vacuum valve.

4. Reinstall thermal vacuum valve.

-

Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads of the thermal vacuum valve, and install it.

Torque:  29 Nm (22 ft lb)
