Valve Guide: Service and Repair

1. Gradually heat the cylinder head to 80° - 100° C (176° - 212° F).

2. Using Special Service Tool (SST) Valve Guide Bushing Remover & Replacer Set # 09201 - 10000 (Valve Guide Bushing Remover & Replacer 7

# 09201 - 01070), Handle Set # 09950 - 70010 (Handle 100 # 09951 - 07100) or equivalents and a hammer, tap out the guide bushing.

3. Using a caliper gauge, measure the bushing bore diameter of the cylinder head.

4. Select a new guide bushing (STD size or O/S 0.05).

If the bushing bore diameter of the cylinder head is greater than 11.513 mm (0.4533 inch), machine the bushing bore to the following dimension: 
11.542 - 11.563 mm (0.4544 - 0.4552 inch)
If the bushing bore diameter of the cylinder head is greater than 11.563 mm (0.4552 inch), replace the cylinder head.

5. Gradually heat the cylinder head to 80° - 100° C (176° - 212° F).

6. Using SST Valve Guide Bushing Remover & Replacer Set # 09201 - 10000 (Valve Guide Bushing Remover & Replacer 7 # 09201 - 01070),

Handle Set # 09950-70010 (Handle 100 # 09951 -07100) or equivalents and a hammer, tap in a new guide bushing until it protrudes 8.2 - 8.6 mm
(0.323 - 0.339 inch) from the cylinder head.
