Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair
Rear

NOTE: A torque wrench will be required to complete some of the procedures.

REPLACEMENT

1. Remove the rear wheels.

Installation Note:  Torque as follows for steel wheels 147 Nm (109 ft. lbs.) and for aluminum wheels 103 Nm (76 ft. lbs.).

2. Remove the rear shock absorber after doing the following.

a. Remove the lower bolt holding the shock absorber from the rear axle housing.
b. Remove the retainer and 2 cushions then disconnect the shock absorber.

Installation Note:  Torque to 64 Nm (47 ft. lbs.).

c. Remove the 2 upper bolts and shock absorber. 

Installation Note:  Torque bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).

d. Remove these parts from the shock absorber: the mounting nut, the two cushions and the three retainers and the bracket.
