Water Pump: Testing and Inspection

2AZ-FE COOLING: WATER PUMP: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. SEPARATE RADIATOR RESERVE TANK ASSEMBLY See: Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine

Assembly/Removal

2. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY

HINT:   See: Starting and Charging/Charging System/Alternator/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Removal

3. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH See: Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine

4. REMOVE WATER PUMP PULLEY See: Service and Repair/Removal
5. INSPECT WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY

(a) Visually check the drain hole and air hole for coolant leakage.

If leakage is found, replace the water pump assembly.

(b) Turn the pulley, and then check that the water pump bearing moves smoothly without making a "click" sound.

If it does not move smoothly, replace the water pump assembly.
