(a) Perform a diagnostic system check See: Air Bag Systems/Testing and Inspection/Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes/DTC Check
/ Clear.
2. INSPECT REAR AIRBAG SENSOR (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG HAS NOT DEPLOYED)
(a) Perform a diagnostic system check See: Air Bag Systems/Testing and Inspection/Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes/DTC Check
/ Clear.
(b) When the quarter panel of the vehicle or the surrounding area is damaged, check if there is any damage to the rear airbag sensor. If there are
any following defects, replace the rear airbag sensor with a new one:
-
Cracks, dents or chips on the sensor housing.
-
Cracks or other damage to the connector.
-
Peeling off of the label or damage to the serial number.
CAUTION: Be sure to follow the correct removal and installation procedures for the rear airbag sensor.
3. INSPECT REAR AIRBAG SENSOR (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG IS DEPLOYED)
(a) When airbags have deployed as the result of a collision, be certain to replace all rear airbag sensors in the damaged area (anywhere in need of
repair). Furthermore, it is also necessary to replace any rear airbag sensors in undamaged areas that have registered a major collision, or which
exhibit any of the following abnormalities:
-
Cracks, dents or chips on the sensor housing.
-
Cracks or other damage to the connector.
-
Peeling off of the label or damage to the serial number.
CAUTION: Be sure to follow the correct removal and installation procedures for the rear airbag sensor.
Seat Position Sensor
SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: SEAT POSITION SENSOR: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
1. INSPECT SEAT POSITION SENSOR (VEHICLE NOT INVOLVED IN COLLISION)
(a) Perform a diagnostic system check See: Air Bag Systems/Testing and Inspection/Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes/DTC Check
/ Clear.
2. INSPECT SEAT POSITION SENSOR (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION)
(a) Perform a diagnostic system check See: Air Bag Systems/Testing and Inspection/Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes/DTC Check
/ Clear.
(b) Even if an airbag was not deployed, check if there is any damage to the seat position sensor.
If there are any following defects, replace the seat position sensor with a new one:
-
Cracks, dents or chips on the sensor housing.
-
Cracks or other damage to the connector.
CAUTION: Be sure to follow the correct removal and installation procedures for the seat position sensor.
Side Airbag Sensor
SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
1. INSPECT SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR (VEHICLE NOT INVOLVED IN COLLISION)
(a) Perform a diagnostic system check See: Air Bag Systems/Testing and Inspection/Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes/DTC Check
/ Clear.
2. INSPECT SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG HAS NOT DEPLOYED)
(a) Perform a diagnostic system check See: Air Bag Systems/Testing and Inspection/Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes/DTC Check
/ Clear.
(b) When the center pillar of the vehicle or the surrounding area is damaged, check if there is any damage to the side airbag sensor. If there are any
following defects, replace the side airbag sensor with a new one:
-
Cracks, dents or chips on the sensor housing.
-
Cracks or other damage to the connector.
-
Peeling off of the label or damage to the serial number.
CAUTION: Be sure to follow the correct removal and installation procedures for the side airbag sensor.
3. INSPECT SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG IS DEPLOYED)
