SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR: REMOVAL
REMOVAL

Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

The following procedure is for the LH side.
1. PRECAUTION
CAUTION: Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing See: Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Service Precautions.
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and Repair/Removal
4. DISCONNECT FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and

5. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and Repair/Removal
6. DISCONNECT REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and

7. REMOVE LAP BELT OUTER ANCHOR COVER (for Driver Side) See: Restraint Systems/Seat Belt Systems/Seat Belt/Service and

8. DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY (for Driver Side) See: Restraint Systems/Seat Belt Systems/Seat Belt/Service and
Repair/Front Seat Outer Belt Assembly/Removal
9. REMOVE LAP BELT OUTER ANCHOR COVER (for Front Passenger Side) See: Restraint Systems/Seat Belt Systems/Seat Belt/Service and

10. DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY (for Front Passenger Side) See: Restraint Systems/Seat Belt Systems/Seat

11. REMOVE LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Headliner/Service and Repair/Removal
12. REMOVE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR
(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.
(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
(c) Disconnect the connector from the side airbag sensor.
NOTE: When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
(d) Remove the bolt and disengage the pin, and remove the side airbag sensor.
NOTE: Loosen the bolt while holding the side airbag sensor because the side airbag sensor pin (stopper) is easily damaged.
Installation

INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR
(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.
(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
